American Express Merchant Accounts:

American Express merchant accounts are obtained directly from American Express company but the merchant account file can be integrated very easily with your existing VISA and MasterCard merchant accounts.

The integration is simple and quick and takes place at the point of payment gateway connection that your processor provides for you.

The fees are also not complicated, unlike VISA and Mastercard.

American Express merchant account fee structure

Application fee of $10 (and often waived)
No setup fee
Discount rate: about 3.49%-3.75% for American Express transactions
Transaction fee: about 15 cents per transaction
Monthly minimum of $10
Monthly statement fee of $5.95
